Cinnamon Spice + Pear Smoothie - Mumberry

Posted on 16 May 2016

A green smoothie is a simple, quick way to pack a lot of nutrients and good-for-you ingredients into one meal that can be carried with you if you’re short on time! And this one happens to include cinnamon spice and everything nice (like pears, green apples, avocados, and spinach)- YUM!

Some green smoothies sometimes get a bad rap for being a little watery- but not this one! The addition of avocado makes it rich and creamy, and also provides a ton of health and nutrients.

Avocados are full of nutrients folic acid, calcium, many vitamins, including Vitamin B1, B2, and B6, iron, and “good fat,” just to name a few! The good fats especially (monounsaturated fatty acids) are the best way to gain the recommended amount of pregnancy weight in a healthy way, instead of by consuming sweets and other processed foods. These nutrients are all essential for good development of your baby during pregnancy. They’re also useful for helping ease morning sickness!

To make this smoothie, all you need is:

  • 1 cup milk of choice (cashew milk is a great, creamy choice!)

  • 1 handful spinach

  • ½ green apple

  • ½ pear

  • ¼ – ½ small avocado

  • 2 tbsp hemp seed

  • 2 tsp cinnamon

If you have a great blender, it’s pretty simple! Just throw all of the ingredients in and let it blend!

If not, dice the apple and pear first and then add them to a food processor.

Once they’ve been chopped in the processor, set them to the side. Then add spinach to the food processor and repeat.

Once the apples, pears, and spinach have been processed, you can add the rest of the ingredients to a blender with them and blend until the drink has a smooth consistency

Some people may prefer a little extra sweetness at the end! If that’s you, you can add ¼ – ½ of a banana to the blender for a healthy dose of sweet! ;)

Enjoy your fresh treat!
